NEWARK — In the end, family won out for Ryan Daly.

The former Delaware basketball standout announced on social media that he’s transferring to St. Joseph’s for the final two seasons of his college career.

Both Daly’s father, Brian, and his grandfather, Jim Boyle, played for the Hawks. Boyle was also St. Joe’s head coach in the 1980s.

Daly posted a photo of himself wearing a St. Joe’s jersey on social media with the words, ‘This ones for family.’

At Delaware, Daly was a two-time third-team all-Colonial Athletic Association pick. The 6-foot-5 guard was also the CAA Rookie of the Year as a freshman.

Daly scored exactly 1,000 points in his two seasons with the Blue Hens. By NCAA transfer rules, he’ll have to sit out next season with the Hawks.

According to Philly.com, the Ardmore, Pa,. native also strongly considered Temple and Xavier.

“This is not a reflection on the University or the basketball program,” Daly said in a statement announcing his decision to leave UD. “I love Coach (Martin) Ingelsby, his staff, my teammates and the fans and I thank them for the past two years.

“However, for my overall happiness, I feel a change of schools is needed. I will miss being here, but will keep rooting for Delaware.”
