Floyd D. Dickey

DOVER - Floyd D. Dickey, of Dover, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011, in Courtland Manor Health Care, Dover. He was 81. Mr. Dickey was born March 3, 1930, in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Arthur J. Dickey and Charlotte Blanche Monroe Dickey. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict where he served in Korea and then was stationed at Dover Air Force Base. Mr. Dickey graduated from Ohio State University. He worked as administrator at Kent General Hospital and then Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna retiring in 1986. Mr. Dickey enjoyed the beach, the Phillies and antique cars. He was a member of the Delaware Veterans Post 2. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Byron and Stanley; sisters, Phyllis Simms, Genevieve Russell, and Peggy Crossmock. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris Dixon Dickey of Dover; son, Jeff Dickey and his wife Ellen of Dover; daughter, Deborah Bauman and her husband Scott of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Jared Dickey and Jacob Dickey, Derek Bauman, Amy Bauman Butler, and Joshua Bauman; great-grandchildren, Madison and Logan Butler; sisters, Arla Davy, and Barbara Boles; brother, Randall; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be noon, Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the USO of Delaware, 500 Purple Heart Way, DAFB, Dover, DE 19902. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
