Kauffman, 80 GREENWOOD - Florence Irene Kauffman of Greenwood, passed away Dec. 20, 2015 at the home she shared with her late husband, Herman. Irene was born Aug. 29, 1935 in Hartly. She graduated from Dover High School in 1954 and in Dec. 1954 she married Herman Kauffman. They remained married for over 60 years, until he passed away. In the 1960's, she worked at night at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood as a Nurses Aid. In 1984, she graduated from Delaware Technical Community college as a Registered Nurse and began a nursing career at Milford Memorial Hospital which lasted until 1994. Irene's passion was her family. She spent many hours with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her kitchen was always the gathering place for friends and family where she would always offer you something to eat and drink. She was an excellent cook and loved to share with others. Herman and Irene loved to travel and they spent a lot of time traveling through the United States with friends and family. They drove their motor home through Alaska several times and would stop to see different people on their way home. They also spent the winter months in Florida, where they would frequent flea markets and yard sales and just spend time with Sam and Betty Swartzentruber. They also made several missions trips in the 1990's to Ghana Africa where they helped with building a church and also helped in medical clinics. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Herman Kauffman who passed away in Jul., 2015. She missed him so much and spoke often of him. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Sylvia Mast; her sisters, Lydia Mast and Lillie Simmons; and her brothers, Lawrence, Daniel and William. She is survived by her six children, Ken and his wife Queena, Randy and his wife Berta, and Fonda all from Greenwood, Marlin and his wife Tonya from Milton, Michelle and her husband Lee Humphries from Dover and Ramona and her husband Jamie Negron from Bridgeville; 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clarence Mast of Tunkhannock, Pa., John Mast of Lederach, Pa., Robert Mast from Greenwood; and many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held Tues., Dec. 22 from 6-8 at the Greenwood Mennonite Church in Greenwood Delaware. Services will be Wed., Dec. 23 at 1 p.m. with a viewing from 12-1 p.m. preceding, also at the Greenwood Mennonite Church. Burial will be at the cemeteryadjacent to the church. Family requests that in lieu of flowers, pleases send donations in memory of Irene to Gideon's International and donate Bibles. Arrangements by Fleischauer Funeral Home, Greenwood.
