Florence Delema May Hughes

Seaford - Florence Delema May Hughes passed away on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017 at Genesis Seaford Center while under the care of VITAS Health Care. She was born in Seaford to the late John T. and Pauline (Waller) Jester on September 4, 1926. Prior to her retirement in 1986, Florence worked for 30 years as a seamstress at the Laurel Manufacturing Company. She was a member of the Laurel Wesleyan Church, enjoyed traveling, was an avid reader and loved flowers. While at Genesis Seaford Centers she became an enthusiastic Bingo player and enjoyed ceramics. In addition to her parents, she is preceded by her husband, Brice W. Hughes; two of her sons, John W. Tyndall and James D. Tyndall; three of her sisters, Anna Ent, Francis Ellingsworth, and Betty Poore; her brother, John W. Jester; and her granddaughter, Marsha J. Tyndall. Florence is survived by her son, Carroll W. Tyndall and wife Beverly of Berea, Ky.; daughter-in-law's, Penny Tyndall of Bethel, Sue Murphy and husband Richard, who was like a son of Laurel; grandchildren, John T. Tyndall, Valeria Coffin, Angela Hubbard and Jamie Smith; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017 at 12 noon in the sanctuary of Laurel Wesleyan Church, 30186 Seaford Rd, Laurel, DE 19956. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral, beginning at 11 am. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions in Florence's memory to: Laurel Wesleyan Church, 30186 Seaford Rd., Laurel, DE 19956. Arrangements in the care of Short Funeral Services, Georgetown.
