MILFORD - Florence B. Jackson, of Milford, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, April 20, 2009, at Milford Memorial Hospital, Bayhealth Medical Center. She was 86. Mrs. Jackson was born in Smyrna, the daughter of the late Elmer and Grace (Bratton) Austin. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Milford Church of God. Mrs. Jackson enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren were the love of her life and she doted over them every chance she could get. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Elwood Austin and Elmer Austin; a sister, Priscilla Austin; and a son-in-law, Phillip Sharp, Sr. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Roland L. "Junior" Jackson; one son, Roland L. Jackson, Jr. and his wife Alice of Milford; two daughters, Florence G. "Flossie" Sharp and Sandra Brooks, both of Milford; five grandchildren, Phillip Sharp, Jr., Darlene Austin, Rhonda Jester, Ryan Brooks and Kyle Brooks; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Deputy of Houston, Hilda Hills of Dover and Violet Jones of Baltimore; one brother, Joseph Austin of Dover; and two sisters-in-law, Annie Lee Greulich and Fannie Mae Wilkins, both of Milford. Funeral services were Thursday, April 23, at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Rt. 113, Milford.
