DOVER — Let’s help Noah out.
The Northern Virginia boy wants to know about our lives in the First State. He asked if the Daily State News would print a letter for him.
“I am very excited to learn more about the great state of Delaware and wish to represent you well in my final State Fair project in the month of May,” he wrote.
Here is Noah’s request.
Dear people of the Great State of Delaware,
Hello, I am a third-grade student in Northern Virginia. Our class is learning about the United States, and I will be teaching our school about the state of Delaware. In late May, I will create a display for our State Fair that I hope will make you proud.
Although I have gathered faces about your state from books and websites, I think that I can receive the best information from people who live there. This is why I am writing to you. I am hoping that you would consider sending items such as postcards, pictures, this newspaper article, or any unique items that would be useful or show your state’s pride. Here are a few questions:
Why do you live in your state?
What first brought your family there?
How do you make money? What is your job?
What does your state look like?
What do people do for fun?
What animals live there?
What traditional food/recipes does your state have?
What type of music is native to your state?
Do you have a state athletic team?
What geographic features are unique to your state?
I will need to gather all of my information by the second week of May. You can mail items to the address below. I really appreciate your help!
Sincerely,
Noah

Dover Air Force Base, Delaware State University, University of Delaware and our beautiful beaches are among the places in the 302 that may intrigue Noah.
And, of course, there is Dover International Speedway.
Or, maybe there's the appeal of a sunset at Cape Henlopen.
The Monster monument, covered in snow, was on the front page Thursday.
In 22 weeks when the stock cars return to Dover, it will be much warmer in the hot Delaware sun.

It was cool to receive Noah's letter. Years ago, we got these quite often from out-of-state students and we were always happy to publish.

Readers likely have noticed two new bylines in the Daily State News.
Kaitlyn Cupelli will be covering news in the Dover and Kent County.
Brian Trompeter will be covering news in the Milford area and digging into statewide education issues.
Cupelli was born and raised in Milford where she graduated Salutatorian of her Milford high School. She received her Bachelor of Arts in journalism from the University of Maryland and her Master of Arts in strategic communications from the University of Delaware.
Trompeter spent 29 years as a reporter, photographer and editor at several community weekly newspapers in Northern Virginia before moving to Delaware.
A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Trompeter grew up in Midland, Michigan, and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
