Flood insurance seminars set in Crisfield, Princess Anne on June 23

PRINCESS ANNE — Two free seminars on flood insurance, sponsored by Landmark Insurance and Financial Group, will be held Tuesday, June 23, in Crisfield and Princess Anne.

 

The seminars are set for 2 p.m. at Crisfield City Hall and 5:30 p.m. at Peaky's Restaurant in Princess Anne.

 

Experts in the field will discuss flood loss prevention solutions to lower flood insurance costs, and also:

 

  • Review the Bigger-Waters and Homeowners Flood Insurance Affordability Act, who it is affecting, and what changes are taking place.
  • Explain how compliant flood openings affect NFIP rates and how FEMA Elevation Certificates are required for actuarial ratings.
  • Identify FEMA’s red flags on Elevation Certificates, explain what flood mitigation options are available, and review insurance savings case studies along with real life success stories.

 

 

The speakers will be Kevin Dupree of Nationwide Flood, Maryland Insurance Commissioner Al Redmer and Owen Gechter, a smart vent/flood risk evaluator
