Five arrests made following Dover firearms investigation

DOVER — Five Dover residents were arrested Tuesday following a firearms investigation, Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said.

Police said Malachi Moore, 21, and JaShawn Moore, 18, were arrested along with males ages 15 and 14 and a 17-year-old female.

Police said JaShawn Moore, and the 15-year-old were under investigation and on Tuesday at 7:45 a.m., officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 700 block of Bacon Ave.

Malachi Moore, the three juveniles and a 34-year-old Dover male were taken into custody without incident. A .380 handgun, magazines containing ammunition, and 8.2 grams of cocaine, along with packaging material were located, police said.

At the same time, police said, another was search warrant was conducted on a residence in the 500 block of Roberta Avenue related to JaShawn Moore. He was taken into custody without incident. Police said a search of the house revealed a Glock 23 handgun containing ammunition, Keltec P-11, Stoger STR9c, 3.2 grams of crack cocaine and additional ammunition.

Police said the 34-year-old male was not charged with anything related to the firearms investigation.

Malachi Moore was charged with possession offenses including firearm by a person prohibited and ammunition by a person prohibited and second-degree conspiracy. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $15,000 cash bail, police said.

Police said JaShawn Moore was charged with possession offenses including firearm by a person prohibited (three counts), ammunition by a person prohibited (two counts), cocaine and drug paraphernalia. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $102,800 cash bail

The 17-year-old was charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited juvenile and second-degree conspiracy.

Possession of a firearm by a prohibited juvenile, possession of cocaine in a Tier 1 quantity and second-degree conspiracy charges resulted for the 15-year-old.

Charges against the 14-year-old included possession of a firearm by a prohibited juvenile and second-degree conspiracy.

All the juveniles were released on unsecured bail.
