DOVER — A 35-year-old Dover man was arrested on firearms charges following a traffic stop Saturday, authorities said.
Dover Police said Anthony Ciferni III was driving in the area of South State Street and Loockerman Street when stopped for traffic violations at 11:55 a.m. Spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said a K-9 alerted to the vehicle for the positive presence of narcotics.
A search was conducted and officers located a loaded sawed off shotgun concealed underneath of a book bag and drug paraphernalia, police said.
Ciferni was charged with possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a destructive weapon and various traffic charged. He was committed to SUssex Correctional Institution on $23,000 cash bail.
