DOVER — An 18-year-old Felton man was charged with several gun offenses following a stolen gun investigation, Delaware State Police said.
Authorities said that beginning in September, Dover Police Department and Delaware State Police began investigating a theft of a firearm that occurred on the 100 block of West Loockerman Street in Dover.
Through investigative means, detectives identified the suspect as Sahir Samuels, an active probationer, a person prohibited from possessing a firearm, as the person responsible for the theft and obtained warrants for his arrest, police said.
On Thursday, police said, the Kent County Governor’s Task Force arrested Samuels without incident. During a probation search of his residence, probation officers located a stolen Taurus 9mm handgun, 3D printed Glock style frame, trigger, and mechanism and 9mm magazines and ammunition, police said
Mr. Samuels was charged with theft of firearm, attempt to commit the possession of a weapon with an obliterated serial number and possession offenses including unfinished firearm frame or receiver with no serial numper, firearm during the commission of a felony and firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited (three counts), police said.
Mr. Samuels was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $44,000 cash bond.
