DOVER — Delaware State Police arrested a 44-year-old Felton on felony assault and weapons charges after a stabbing incident on Sunday at a Dover bar.
Troopers responded around 11:20 p.m. to the reported stabbing at Touchdown Lounge, 1666 S. DuPont Highway. When troopers arrived, they learned that a male victim had been stabbed by a male suspect, whom police identified as Charles Murray. According to police, Mr. Murray reportedly accused the victim and bartender of stealing his debit card before punching the victim inside the bar. After leaving the bar, the victim told his friend, who was seated in the driver’s seat of their vehicle, what had occurred.
As they were speaking, Mr. Murray approached the driver’s side door, police said. The friend exited the vehicle and engaged in a physical altercation with Mr. Murray, authorities said. When the victim moved toward the two, Mr. Murray allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times.
Rescue personnel took both men to an area hospital. Detectives went to the hospital and learned the victim had suffered critical injuries, while Murray was uninjured.
Police took Mr. Murray into custody without incident and transported him to Troop 3. Authorities charged him with felonies for first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. Mr. Murray was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $102,000 cash bond.
