Faust: With Dover election finished, here’s to a fresh approach

Posted

The Dover municipal election is now over, and the citizens have spoken. Our democracy has allowed the city’s residents to vote for their elected officials.

Hopefully, this will be a fresh start to address all the issues facing our great city. I urge our mayor and City Council to reflect on the past and plan for Dover’s future.

I hope they all realize that the added fees, the increase in taxes and the increase in our electricity rate have caused hardships for many of our citizens.

I encourage our residents to go to the city’s webpage and see the contact information for the mayor and the council members. I do not know what issues the individual districts have, but people need to know where they can go to address their concern.

The mayor and council work for the citizens of Dover, and they need to know what their constituents’ fears, concerns and frustrations are. Everyone who holds public office in Dover needs to be held accountable for their individual action or lack of action.

I truly want to see the mayor and City Council succeed because, if they fail, Dover fails.

To the residents who chose not to vote, it is too late to complain about what is occurring in our great city.

Here’s to a new and fresh beginning to make the city of Dover better for all its inhabitants.
