Faust: Dover leadership sinking like Titanic

Posted

What will happen next with City Council and the mayor in the city of Dover? Who is at the controls of the city? Whoever is running the city of Dover is doing nothing but hitting icebergs.

Many members of council and mayor do nothing to communicate truthfully/fully with the citizens of Dover. When I spoke to certain members of council, I was repeatedly told we need to do a better job in communicating with the citizens. However, nothing has changed.

It appears that the members of council and the mayor sidestep the big issues and do not address the citizens in a timely manner. These are the big issues that need to be addressed:

  1. Why have the 2023 and 2024 city audits not been published? I can see a slight delay with the 2024 audit; however, there is no excuse that the 2023 audit is not published. What is the issue?
  2. Why have we not received an update on the cyberattack that recently occurred to the city? There has been radio silence. Who is responsible for ensuring that such events do not occur?
  3. What happened to the funds that were set aside and not used for snow removal? As everyone knows, it has not snowed in several years, and we should have had a big surplus.

It appears that the mayor and council have no issues in adding fees, raising taxes and increasing electric fees. However, when it comes to the harder issues, they are radio silent.

These issues go back to who is steering the city and why it appears, at every turn, that they just hit another iceberg.

The citizens deserve accountability and decisive action from the individuals who are running the city.
