BRIDGEVILLE — A Sunday shooting that left a 23-year-old Bridgeville man dead is under investigation by the Delaware State Police.

According to spokesman Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto, at approximately 7:01 p.m., troopers responded to the 21000 block of Mill Park Drive, regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Orbby Holder lying in the front yard of a residence and suffering from gunshot wounds.

Cpl. DeMalto said troopers and emergency medical services rendered aid to Mr. Holder at the scene, and he was taken to an area hospital for treatment. He was later pronounced dead there, and the Homicide Unit assumed the investigation.

Detectives determined that Mr. Holder had been at a party on Mill Park Drive, when he was confronted by an unknown man. The confrontation escalated, and the suspect shot Mr. Holder with a handgun, police said.

The suspect then fled the scene in an undetermined direction, Cpl. DeMalto said. No suspect information was available Monday.

Detectives ask anyone with information to call Detective M. Csapo at 302-741-2729, send a message via the state police Facebook page or contact Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-847-3333.
