Evelyn P. Townsend, 91
DOVER - Evelyn P. Townsend passed away, Monday, January 8, 2024 at Kent General Hospital.
Mrs. Townsend was born September 12, 1932 in Dover, Delaware to the late James Coker and Elizabeth Durham Coker.
She worked at Leemans Furniture for 25 years and then Outten Brothers Furniture for 15 years, retiring in 1994. She loved flowers, the outdoors, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Townsend was Citizen of the Lenape Indian Tribe of Delaware.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Worth Townsend; and brothers, James, Eugene, Carl, Charles Coker; sister, Glendora.
She is survived by her son, Michael Durham of Dover; daughter, Susan Hudson and her husband Rick of Leipsic; brother, Larry Coker of Dover; grandson, Christopher Ridgeway; and great grandson, Carson Ridgeway of Dover.
Funeral services were held 1pm, Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. A viewing was held one hour prior. Interment was in Immanuel Union Methodist Church Cemetery, Cheswold.
