Eugene 'Gene' Slacum Jr., 60
DOVER - Eugene "Gene" Slacum Jr., of Dover, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 60. He was born on June 9, 1948 in Dover, to Eugene and Luvia Short Slacum Sr. He was a member of Capital City Lions Club and on the Board of Directors. He graduated from Dickenson High School and from Wesley College with a degree in accounting. Gene was an avid bowler for many years. He enjoyed the trips to the National Tournament every year. He enjoyed the New York Yankee's baseball games, also working on the computer, and playing with his dogs Chunky and Mario. He was also an avid NASCAR fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Junior. He also collected stamps and coins. He managed the Liberty Tax Office in Bear, also sold Real Estate for Classic Realty of Milford. He lived in Delaware most of his life. He was a coach for the YABA. He is preceded in death by his mother, Luvia Slacum. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Susie" Slacum of Dover; father, Eugene Slacum Sr. of Dover; brothers, Richard C. Slacum and Scott Slacum, both of Dover, Ronald S. and his wife Celeste Slacum of Lewes, and Stacey and his wife Crystal Slacum of Dover. Remembrance Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Trader Funeral Home in Dover, burial will be in the Barratts Chapel Cemetery Frederica. Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Trader Funeral Home in Dover. The family request that memorial contributions be given to American Heart Association and or The Kent County S.P.C.A.
