DOVER - Eugene "Gene" G. Leister, Sr., passed away peacefully at his daughters home, on Friday, May 11, 2012 in Dover. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Anna Redmiles and predeceased by his "Best Friend" and sister Margie Runner. His passion was golf and he enjoyed working at the Chesapeake Bay Golf Club in Maryland until his illness prevented him from doing so last year. Most of all he valued the many friends he made while employed there. Gene's favorite times though were spent with his family whom he loved dearly. He is survived by two sons, Glenn Leister and wife Jan Marie of Irvine, Calf., and Bruce Leister of Dover, Del.; and his daughter, Nancy Quirk and husband Paul of Dover, Del.; grandsons, Matt, Joe, Ryan and wife Danielle, Joe and Sean; grandaughter, Amanda; great grandsons, Kaden, Andrew and Logan; and his beloved nieces and their families. A celebration of his life will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the Chesapeake Bay Golf Club, 128 Karen Dr., Rising Sun, MD. A reception will be held immediately following the service.
