Erwin C. Hirth, 70

CAMDEN - Erwin C. Hirth, of Camden, passed away Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 70. Mr. Hirth was born Aug. 11, 1939, in Philadelphia, son of the late Max Hirth and Charlotte Sarnowski Hirth. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve. Mr. Hirth graduated from Drexel University in 1968 with a mechanical and electrical engineering degree. He worked as an engineer for Siemans, formerly Moore Products Company, in Springhouse, Pa. He retired after 39 years in 2002. Mr. Hirth was a member of the Dover Elks Lodge #1903 and the Peoples United Church of Christ, Dover. He volunteered for the USO and was selected as volunteer of the year in 2007. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, RoseAnn Richter Hirth of Camden; his two daughters, Laura Hirth and long-time companion Todd Trumbore of Harleysville, Pa., and Barb Wagenmann and her husband Joe of Dublin, Pa.; his two sons, Steven Hirth and his wife Shannon of Whitehall, Pa., and Douglas Hirth of Alexandria, Va.; two grandsons, Tyler and Zachary Wagenmann. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, "Milda." Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the Chapel on Dover Air Force Base, located at 299 Lebanon Road, Dover. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Torbert Funeral Home, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. Interment will be in the Forest Hills Cemetery, Philadelphia. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to: Delaware USO, 500 Purple Heart Way, Dover AFB, DE 19902.
