DOVER - Emma Seeney, of Dover, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at home. She was 76. She was born Feb. 8, 1935, in Dover, to the late James R. Carney and Ethel Sammons Carney. Emma worked for Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill as a dietician for many years retiring at the age of 32. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Emma would perk up and get a spark in her eye whenever one of her children or grandchildren would enter the room but it was no secret that the real charmers of the family were, the great grandchildren. She could be having the worst of the worst days but when they came around all pains and worries went away. Emma was known for her good cooking that was always accompanied by a glass of her famous iced tea. She enjoyed many hobbies which included canning the vegetables her husband would grow, doing puzzles and last but not least just caring for her family. Emma was a member of the Forest Grove Seventh Day Adventist Church in Dover. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by siblings, Frances Minner, Clarence and Donald Carney and Loretta Draine. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, William Seeney of Dover; sons, Mike Seeney and his companion, Renee McCausland, Bruce Seeney and his companion Ralph Humbertson all of Smyrna, Corky Seeney and William Seeney, Jr. both of Dover; daughter, Shari Mosley and her companion Bill Cannon of Clayton; brothers, Melvin Carney of Ft. Worth, Texas, Sam Carney of Cheswold, Roland Carney, Larry Carney and Isaac Carney, all of Dover; sisters, Agnes Durham of Greenwich, N.J., Harriet Street of Georgetown, Leona Alvino of Seaford and Janet Scotten of Dover; three grandchildren, Tanisha Seeney-Carney and her husband David, Deanna Barr and her husband Jerry both of Dover and Vanessa McCausland of Clayton; and six great-grandchildren, Kayla, Andrew, Jerry, Anthony, Aaden and Hunter Funeral services will be noon, Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in the Forest Grove Seventh Day Adventist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901. The family would like to say thank you to Delaware Hospice and her sister Janet Scotten for being a caregiver for her. Letters of condolence may be sent and the guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
