Elwood Rodman Mills, 90

GREENWOOD - Elwood Rodman Mills, of Greenwood, died Sunday, March 15, 2009, in Milford Memorial Hospital, Bayhealth Medical Center. He was 90. Rodman was born in Milford, the son of the late Elwood and Minnie (Beardsley) Mills. He worked as a farmer. Rodman also worked for Mitten Construction in Dover for several years and then worked as a Parts Manager for the State of Delaware before retiring. He was a member of the Freedom Worship Center, Milford, the Greenbriar Hunting Club, Temple Lodge No. 9, A.F. & A.M. of Milford and the Harrington Moose Lodge 534. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and gardening. He also enjoyed going to his great-grandson's sporting events. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine (Dickerson) Mills in 1992; a brother, Richard Mills; and a sister, Betty Mills. He is survived by two sons, Greg Mills and his wife Renee, of Felton and David Mills and his wife Pam, of Port Orange, Fla.; four grandchildren, Rev. Mike Mills and his wife Heather of Milford, Andrew Mills and his wife Shayna of Palm Coast, Fla., Amber Brotzman and her husband Beau of Statesville, N.C., and Allan Mills, of Port Orange, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Trent and Avery Mills; and two sisters, Doris Willis and Shirley Welch, both of Milford. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford where friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Rev. Mike Mills will be officiating. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Freedom Worship Center, 21875 Shockley Road, Milford, DE 19963.
