Elsie Mae Walton

GEORGETOWN - Elsie Mae Walton, of Georgetown, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown. She was 97 and had lived to witness many changes in our world. Elsie was the daughter of the late Charles and Nancy (Penuel) Donovan and lived most of her life not far from her childhood home in Redden. She was a school bus contractor for the Indian River School District, she had also worked for Martin Isaacs for many years as well as Milford Dairy Queen. Elsie and her husband Bill were the proprietors of the Liberty Bell Market in Redden for many years. She was an honorary member of the Ellendale Volunteer Fire Co Auxiliary. She was a dedicated life long member of McColleys Chapel United Methodist Church and the W.S.C.S. in Redden. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Walton, Jr. in 1981; and her siblings, Esther Mitchell, Mildred Burton, Nora Forst, and Preston Donovan. Elsie is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, G. Kenneth Walton and Rev. Phyllis Walton of Georgetown, and William A. Walton and Kathleen Walton of Ellendale; and six grandchildren, Clay Walton (Norma) of Milford, G.K. Walton (Carol), Faye Hudson (Tommy), Christine Stevenson (John), all of Georgetown, and Wayne Walton (Joyce) and Dawn Kiker (Chris) of Ellendale. She also leaves behind one sister, Florence Webb of Greenwood; and six great-grandchildren, Billy and Miranda Walton, Samantha Hudson, Jonathan Walton, Jordan and Morgan Stevenson, Kayla Kiker, and Bradley Heritage; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will be in McColleys Cemetery, Redden. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: McColleys Chapel, c/o Reba Wells, 18105 Redden Rd., Georgetown, DE 19947.
