Elmira Simpkins

ROCK HALL, Md. - Elmira Simpkins, of Rock Hall, died Friday, Nov. 5th, 2010, in the Chester River Hospital Center, Chestertown, She was 83. Miss Simpkins was born near Rock Hall, the daughter of the late Olan D. and Martha Parsons Simpkins. Miss Simpkins was a homemaker and enjoyed working on the family farm. She was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Rock Hall, for over 70 years where she taught Sunday school for over 60 years. Miss Simpkins loved to read her Bible, loved to garden and crochet and enjoyed cooking. She also enjoyed selling the many vegetables from her garden at home and enjoyed having fresh Rock fish. In addition to her parents, Miss Simpkins was preceded in death by two Brothers, Olan "Buddy" Simpkins and Franklin Simpkins. Miss Simpkins is survived by two sisters, Anna M. Gamble of Ohio, and Laura A. Herz of New Castle, Del.; one sister-in-law, Marie B. Simpkins of Millington; seven nieces; and two nephews. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, at the Fellows Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, where friends and family may call after noon. Interment will follow in the Chester Cemetery, Chestertown. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory to the Wesley Chapel U.M. Church, P.O. Box 626, Rock Hall, MD 21661.
