Elmer Timothy Schlabach

GREENWOOD - Elmer Timothy "Tim" Schlabach, of Greenwood, died Sept. 18, 2010, at Genesis Elder Care in Milford. He was 84. He was born in Thomas, Okla., on Nov. 20, 1925, to the late Lorenzo and Polly Miller Schlabach. He was a member of Greenwood Mennonite Church, and for most of his life took an active role in the Church, Mennonite School and the surrounding community. Tim had a wide variety of hobbies including, gardening, antique tool collecting, and raising exotic birds. A regular fixture at Wilson's Auction, he was known to sell a few birds only to come home with more things for his "collections." Tim, a stranger to no one, was quick to smile, and to cause you to smile with him. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary Elizabeth "Dolly" Tennefoss who passed on Oct. 21, 2007; his parents; (3) brothers, Walter, Loyd, Evangel; (2) sisters, Mary Bender, Martha Tucker; (1) son-in-law, Joseph Yutzy; (1) foster son, David Smith; and (1) granddaughter, Stacey Justice. He is survived by his four children and spouses, Aileen and Allan Warfel of Milford, Nathan and Shelby Schlabach of Greenwood, Ruby and Nelson Yoder of Harrisonburg, Va., Sharon and Tom Blair of Rapid City, S.D.; a daughter-in-law Marianna Smith of Sarasota, Fla.; three brothers, Paul Slabaugh of Souderton, Pa., Fred Slabaugh of Georgetown, Titus Schlabach of Greenwood; one sister, Pollyanna Eby of Belleville, Pa; 12 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be today, Sept. 21, from 7-9 p.m. The following day there will be a private burial followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. All will be held at Greenwood Mennonite Church. Donations may be made to Greenwood Mennonite School, 12802 Mennonite School Road, Greenwood, DE 19950 or Greenwood Mennonite Church, 12525 Shawnee Road, Greenwood, DE 19950.
