Elmer Edison Arnwine, 77
DOVER - Elmer Edison Arnwine, of Dover, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009, in his home. He was 77. Mr. Arnwine was born July 17, 1931, in Grainger County, Tenn., to the late Harrison Arnwine and Minnie Bunch Arnwine. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and his family was the center of his life. He served 22 years in the United States Air Force as a flight engineer where he combined his love of flying with his dedication to his country. Mr. Arnwine was a veteran of both the Vietnam and Korean Wars. He then served 17 years before retiring as a Sergeant of the Delaware Capitol Police. Mr. Arnwine was a member of the KWVA and the Delaware FOP. He will always be remembered as a proud man who stood up for what he believed in whatever the cost and of his colorful stories of his travels abroad, while serving his country. Mr. Arnwine will be forever in the hearts and minds of his loved ones. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son, David Arnwine in December 2007. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Josephine Arnwine of Dover; his daughter, Debra Henault and her husband David and their daughter Katie of Magnolia; his son, Vincent Arnwine of Dover; grandson, Joshua Evans of Harmony, Md.; granddaughters, Lauren and Amber Arnwine of Union Beach, N.J.; and of course his faithful K-9 companion and best friend, Rusty his Pomeranian; also survived by Sharon Evans and her daughter Heather Rittenhouse both of Harmony, Md. Funeral services will be held noon Saturday at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park.
