Elma Jean Neal

DENTON, Md. - Elma Jean Neal died Sept. 7, 2017 at her home.
Born at home in Caroline County on Nov. 12, 1933, Mrs. Neal was the daughter of the late Roland McKinley Reed and Grace Poole Reed. Her husband, William J. Neal, Sr., died Jun. 20, 2009.
A graduate of Caroline High School, Mrs. Neal had been a 4-H All-Star and had been a 4-H leader. She had worked as a telephone operator in Denton and had worked at the Harrington and Denton ACME stores. In 1969, she started the Country Curl Beauty Shop which she owned and operated until the present. Her favorite activities were family, yard work, farming, and being a beautician.
Mrs. Neal is survived by two sons, William J. Neal, Jr. and his wife Sandi of Hobbs near Denton and Sheldon M. Neal and his wife Anne of Preston, Md.; two daughters, Carolyn N. Duvall and her friend Mike Moore of Royal Oak, Md. and Patricia N. Griffith of Denton; a brother, William Reed of Denton; a sister, Jo Ellen Smith of Dover; four grandchildren, Robert Duvall, Devon Williams and her husband David, Tammi Swartzentruber and her husband Jay, and Alyssa Robison; and eleven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by four brothers, James Reed, Phillip Reed, Norris Reed, and Robert Reed.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017 at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A in Denton where there will be a public visitation two hours before the service. The interment will be in the Denton Cemetery.
If friends wish to send memorial donations, the family suggests sending them to the St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 100 S. Fifth Ave., Denton, MD 21629.
