Ellis Rath's zest for life did not end with his sudden passing on Friday, May 20. Ellis was born on Aug. 8, 1948, in Middleville, N.Y., son of the late Gerald and Helen Rath.
Ellis was a 1966 graduate of Wayne Valley High School in Wayne, N.J. He was a four-year veteran of the United States Air Force, based in North Carolina. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, he went on to establish a career in management for J.C. Penney and spent nearly 15 years in real estate with Patterson Schwartz in Dover.
Ellis, a member of First Baptist Church in Milford, DE, enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, and relaxing and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by the love of his life for 31 years, Gina Rath, of Milford, Del.; and his sisters, Suzanne Gorman, of Naples, Fla., Gail Jaust and her husband, Jack, of Viera, Fla., and Newton, N.J.; and a brother, Charles Rath, of Longs, S.C.
Ellis is also survived by his son, Alex Rath, of Columbia, S.C., and his wife, Jennifer, and granddaughter, Allison, stepson, Ensign Stephen Lyons, U.S. Navy, and granddaughter, Chloe; along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Milford, Del. Friends may call beginning at 1 p.m.
