DOVER - Elizabeth "Bette" Virginia Benner passed away on Jun. 25, 2017, after a brief illness. She was born in Teaneck, N.J. on April 2, 1929, to Ethel and Herbert Anderson.
She attended Kutztown College in Pennsylvania where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art Education. She moved to Dover in 1959 and remained a resident until her death.
She is survived by her three daughters, Lisa Ward of Harrington, Lori Schrall of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Susan Truitt of Felton; four grandchildren, Christopher Truitt, Katie Henry, Michale Yasko, Phillip Yasko; and great-granddaughter, Rylee Yasko.
Bette retired twice from J.C. Penney where she worked as a Sales Associate for over 30 years and continued to attend the monthly associate luncheons.
Throughout her lifetime Bette enjoyed camping, travel, dancing, painting, baking, sewing, gardening, kayaking, and cards. She volunteered at the Blood Bank for many years and was an avid supporter of blood donations. She gave to multiple charities.
As per Bette's request there will be no funeral or memorial service. The family wishes to thank all those who cared for her during the last years of her life.
Anyone wishing to make donations in her name, may direct them to the Modern Maturity Adult Daycare Program at 1125 Forrest Ave., Dover, DE 19904 with notation to the Day Breaks Program.
