MASSEY, Md. -- Elizabeth R. McGinnis, 91, of Massey, passed Oct. 9, 2008, in Broadmeadow Healthcare, Middletown, Del. Mrs. McGinnis was born Nov. 30, 1916, in Hillsville, Va., daughter of the late John Wesley and Lucy Matilda Kemp Reece. She and her husband moved to Chesapeake City in 1945 where they raised their family and in 1974 they moved to Kent County. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, John I. McGinnis; in 1991. Mrs. McGinnis is survived by six children, Joyce Townsend and Frank of Wilmington, Joan Hylton and Ralph of Massey, Sue Lund and Bob of Kentucky, John T. McGinnis of Kennedyville, Monte McGinnis and Lynn of Dover, Del., and Garry McGinnis of Massey; a sister, Ruby Seese of Lincoln, Pa.; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 1 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., where friends may call after noon. Burial will be in Busick Cemetery. Memorials may be offered to Alzheimer's Association, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093; or St. John the Beloved, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.
