Elizabeth M. 'Betty' Kanouse

DOVER - Elizabeth M. "Betty" Kanouse, 83, of Dover, died Oct. 16, 2009. Mrs. Kanouse was born July 20, 1926, daughter of the late Clark and Anna Furbush Morris. She graduated from Centreville High School, Centreville, Md., in 1943. She worked at Swarthmore College for six years and Clifton Percision Division of Litton for 32 years, retiring to Dover in 1988. She resided at Luther Towers and was a member of the Modern Maturity Center of Dover. Mrs. Kanouse was preceded in death by her husband, William Kanouse; a son, John C. Kanouse and his wife Dianne of Dover; three sisters, Isabelle Kimbels, Virginia Kimbles, and Lula Mae Massey. She is survived by grandson, John W. Kanouse; a granddaughter, Dawn Chaplik; one great-grandson, Daniel J. Hitchner of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews of Maryland, Texas, and Virginia. A memorial service will be 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 24, at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather one hour before services. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a contribution to the charity of your choice. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
