DOVER - Elizabeth Ann 'Beth' Maciarello, of Dover died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at the age of 62. She was born in Alexandria, Va., and is the daughter of the late Anthony J. and Frances Maciarello. Elizabeth was a Kindergarten Teacher for over 35 years in the Caesar Rodney School District where she was named as the Arnold Teacher of the Year several times and the 1996 - 97 Caesar Rodney School District Teacher of the Year. Over the course of her career she was the first teacher to more than 2100 students. She retired in 2006. She was a member of the National Education Association and Alpha Delta Kappa, an international honorary organization of women educators. She enjoyed most, international travel, cooking for family and friends, swimming and caring for her beloved Yorkshire Terriers. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Bruce Higgins of Chantilly Va.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Frances Maciarello of Camden, Michael Maciarello and Susan Yost of Dover; and eight nieces and nephews along with 10 great-nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday evening, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory to Delaware Hospice 911 S. DuPont Hwy, Dover DE 19901.
