DOVER - Elgia Sacra, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Feb. 27, 2011. She was 86. She was born July 4, 1924 in Missouri, the youngest and last of seven children, and was proud of her Cherokee Indian heritage. Delaware became her home in 1952 where she lived in the Wilmington area and raised her family. Elgia worked for 18 years at the Delaware State Hospital as a telephone operator. After retirement, she resided at Luther Towers in Dover, until her failing health required her to stay at Pinnacle Rehab and Health Center. She enjoyed cooking, playing the piano, music, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and was known as Mom Mom to many others. During her last months, she became increasingly more thankful and content in life and will be sadly missed by many. She is survived by her oldest son, James W. Sacra and his wife Sandy, (Millersville, Md.); her youngest son, Bob Sacra and his wife Debbie (Dover); her nine grandchildren, LCDR Christopher Sacra (currently stationed in Hamburg, Germany), CPT Matthew Sacra and wife Becky (currently transitioning from Ft. Riley, Kan. to Ft. Lee, Va.), Elijah Sacra (Baltimore, Md.), Aaron Sacra and wife Danielle (Jupiter, Fla.), Leah Sacra (Virginia Beach, Va.), Isaac Sacra and wife Maria (Dover), James Sacra and wife Roshini (Dover), Alta Sacra (Youngstown, Ohio), Bobby Sacra (Virginia Beach, Va.) and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Saturday March 5, 2011, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
