DOVER - Eleanor Louise (Hall) Palmer, age 87, passed at home surrounded by beloved family on Sunday July 28, 2024.
Eleanor was born in Port Huron, Michigan in 1936 to the late Louis Bert Hall Jr. and the late Eleanor Louise Misch Hall. Eleanor was a graduate of Port Huron High School and attended St. Claire County Community College. She worked as a telephone operator at Michigan Bell until her marriage when she became a military wife and mother, living in multiple states and countries including Germany, Puerto Rico, and the pacific islands of Guam, Japan, and Hawaii. Eleanor and her husband, the late Ret. Chief Master Sergeant Larry Dennis Palmer Sr. settled in Dover, DE where Eleanor performed volunteer work at the United Services Organization (USO) at the terminal at Dover Air Force Base (DAFB). She also worked in civil service administrative positions at DAFB Legal Department, Civil Engineering, Personnel, and the Fire Department. Eleanor was a Lutheran Christian and regularly attended services at the DAFB Chapel. She enjoyed horseback riding, bowling, oil painting and had a great passion for reading.
In addition to her loving husband and parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her siblings, Louis Bert Hall III and Donna Hall, and her beloved grandson of Great Falls, Montana, Ryan Joshua Palmer Fleming.
Eleanor is survived by siblings, Robert Hall (Rebecca) of Port Huron, MI; Jon Hall (Judy) of China, MI; Diane McCalla of Casco, MI; Dorothy Wicht (Rudy) Portage, MI; five children Lisa D. Palmer of Alexandria, VA; Louann Palmer Fleming (Chuck) of Florence, MT; Linda D. Palmer of Chapel Hill, TN; Larry D. Palmer Jr. (Lori Davis-Palmer) of Magnolia, DE; Louis D. Palmer of Dover, DE; four grandchildren, Jeremy Garlick (Julie) of Napa, CA; Leah D. Palmer (Tyler Holloway) of Milford, DE; Sara Christopher Warner (Patrick) of Lewisburg, TN; Lana D. Weber (Darold) Magnolia, DE; three great grandchildren, Emory Rose Garlick, Elias Garlick, and Dashiell Martin Palmer Holloway.
Interment will be private at the Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.
