FEDERALSBURG, Md. - Eleanor Gail Bennett Murphy, of Federalsburg, went to be with her Lord on Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Memorial Hospital at Easton. She was 60. She was born Feb. 12, 1951, in Salisbury, Md., the daughter of Norman E. Bennett, Sr. of Federalsburg, and the late Louise Bertha Nichols Bennett. Her husband Melvin W. "Bunky" Murphy preceded her in death. Eleanor was a graduate of Colonel Richardson High School Class of 1969. She worked as a bookkeeper, last working at M & M Refrigeration in Federalsburg. She was a member of the Seaford Elks Lodge #2458. She had been a member of Park Lane Church of God in Federalsburg since 1977 serving faithfully in many capacities. Eleanor enjoyed traveling here and abroad, but especially loved spending time with her family and their beach vacations. Besides her father, Norman E. Bennett, Sr. she is survived by two daughters, Jennifer A. Swann and her husband Danny of Easton, and Erin L. Howard and her husband Mark of Federalsburg; three grandchildren, Elizabeth H. Ostermann and Connor M. Swann, both of Easton, and Taylor Paige Howard of Federalsburg; four siblings, Norman E. Bennett, Jr. of Delaware, Bruce W. Bennett, Sr. and his wife Lisa of Seaford, W. Keith Bennett and his wife Claire of Sugarloaf, Pa., and Laura A. Colburn and her husband Chris of Felton, Del.; and eight nieces and nephews, Jeremy Stafford, Aimee Bennett, Kristy Dale, Bruce "BJ" Bennett, Jr., Jonathan Noble, KJ Bennett, Matthew Bennett, and Barbara Colburn; best friend, Colleen Webster; and Angel Shumate, whom she considered a daughter. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Park Lane Church of God, Park Lane, Federalsburg, with Bishop Ray Parsons and Minister Laura Swann officiating. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery in Federalsburg. Viewing will be at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Contributions may be made to Patient in Need Fund (PIN), 102 Dover Street, Easton, MD 21601.
