MILLSBORO — An 80-year-old Millsboro woman died in a single vehicle crash Wednesday on Lowes Crossing Road, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:34 p.m. when an eastbound 2014 Chevrolet Equinox exited the roadway and struck a large standing tree, authorities said. The woman was wearing a seatbelt at the time. She was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland, where she was later pronounced deceased.

Police were withholding the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin. DSP said their Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate.

Lowes Crossing Road was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
