MARYDEL - Edward M. "Eddie" Bates suddenly passed away on April 24, 2009. He was born in Bridgeton, N.J., on March 18, 1978. He went to school at North Caroline High in Ridgley, Md. He worked for George & Lynch as a pipe layer. Eddie loved spending time with family and friends. His interests included fishing, working on small and large engines, and riding motorcycles. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ben Hanna; and paternal grandparents, James and Mary Bates. He is survived by his parents, John and Erin Toulson; a daughter, Alissa Bates; his maternal grandmother, Kathryn Turney; two brothers, Shawn Bates of Marydel and Jon Toulson deployed to Iraq; a sister, Nicole Toulson of St. Michaels, Md.; and numerous other family members. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, DE 19934 to help with expenses.
