MAGNOLIA - Edward James Porter, Jr. better known as EJ, was born on Nov. 23, 1994 to Edward James Porter, Sr. and Tracy Ann Porter-Goodwine. EJ departed this life on Thurs., July 16, 2015. EJ obtained his formal education in the Caesar Rodney School District and graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 2013 with a certification in forklift driving. During his high school years, EJ was a well-known athlete, most passionate about playing football. EJ used his technical forklifting skills in his warehouse technician position at Perdue in Milford where he was employed. EJ had strong family values and cherished every moment spent with his family. He especially welcomed any opportunity to beat opponents in Spades. EJ had a contagious smile and great sense of humor that was welcomed in any family circle and that will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a loving son, girlfriend, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend. EJ was proceeded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jerome Porter; maternal great-grandfather, Wilbert Chase and maternal great-grandmother, Betty Flamer. EJ leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Tracy Porter-Goodwine of Magnolia; his father, Edward Porter, Sr. (Stacy) of Magnolia; his sister, Keona Graham (Bryant) of Hawaii; his paternal grandmother, Betty Porter of Salem, N.J.; his maternal grandmother, Alberta Crapper of Frederica; his maternal grandfathers, John Flamer, Sr. of Harrington, and Harry Crapper, Sr. of Dover; his paternal grandfather, James Marshall of Massachusetts; his maternal great-grandmother, Grace Chase of Magnolia; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and friends. EJ also leaves precious memories with his girlfriend, Teona Barnes; and close childhood friends, Joshua Paddy, Xavier Gregory, Dominique Dorsey, and Chaquille Stratton; and his godmother, Trina Riddick-Matthews, all of Magnolia. A viewing will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, July 26, 2015 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934. A funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, July 27, 2015 at Holy Trinity Church of the Living God, 425 W Division Street, Dover, DE 19904 where there will be a viewing from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park.
