Edmond 'Ed' William McNamara, 93 DOVER - Edmond "Ed" William McNamara, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010. He was 93. He was born March 11, 1916, in Springfield, Mass., son of the late Edmond J. and Margaret Glynn McNamara. He graduated as Class Valedictorian from Northeastern University. In 1942, he volunteered and proudly served in the Pacific as First Class Petty Officer with the U.S. Navy during World War II, until his honorable discharge in 1946. Ed worked as an accountant, an office manager, and a pioneer consultant in computer systems in New England. He was an avid golfer who gave lessons at Maple Dale Country Club in Dover, and he traveled the PGA tour as a reporter and photographer. Ed did income taxes for the elderly at Modern Maturity for 18 years and also wrote articles for their bulletin. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Loretta; and his three brothers. Ed is survived by his daughter, Dianne McReynolds and her husband, Ron of Dover; his son, Bruce McNamara and his wife, Dee Dee of Newark; his daughter, June Moore and her husband, Byron of Newark; and six grandchildren. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Millcroft for the special care given to Ed. A visitation for family and friends will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Tuesday, January 19, 2010, in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, followed by a service in celebration of Ed's life at 12 noon.
