Edith Lantz Benton, 91 MILLINGTON, Md. - Edith Lantz Benton, of Millington, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at her sister in law's home in Millington. She was 91. Edith L. Benton was born Aug. 4, 1918, in Millington, the daughter of the late Nathaniel Samuel Bramble and Mary Alice "Bailey". Born and raised in Millington, she spent the last 12 years in California. Mrs. Benton attended school in Millington and graduated in 1935. She worked as a secretary for several businesses and retired from the Millington Hardware store in 1980. She was a member of the American Legion, Millington Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and Asbury United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling and photography, scrapbooking, quilting and arts and crafts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert H. Lantz; one sister, Erma "Sissy" Connolly; and one brother, Lee C. Bramble. She is survived by her husband, Charles Bowen Benton of Westlake Village, Calif.; one step-son, James H. Lantz of Cambridge, Md.; three step-daughters, Loretta McCollum and husband Charles of Westlake Village, Calif., Linda Benton of Napa, Calif., Patricia Benton of Panorama, Calif.; one sister, Francis Shields of Delray, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Michael E. Lantz, M.D. of Elkridge, Md., Stephen Lantz and wife Lori of Trappe, Md., Jordan McCollem and wife Diane, Robin McCollem, Michael McCollem, Elise Clark and husband Brian, Colin Benton and Serena Benton; and eight great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Grace, Jessica, Emily, Mitchell, Ashley, Aidan, and Maya. A memorial service will be 1 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 14, at Asbury United Methodist Church in Millington. Interment will be private.
