NEW CASTLE — Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore and the Delaware Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities are hosting the 11th annual Easterseals Caregiver Conference.

This year’s virtual event will be held Aug. 24-26. This is a free event.

With the support of Highmark Delaware, Breeda Miller will serve as the keynote speaker.

Ms. Miller has used her professional experience serving clients in health care organizations, corporations, academic institutions and non-profit communities, as well as her personal experience as a caregiver for her mother to inform her presentations about self-care for caregivers.

Through the power of story, audience interaction and warm-hearted humor, Ms. Miller presents strategies that make a difference.

To register call 221-2087 or visit the website.

The theme of this year’s event is “Take A Break, Before You Break.” The topics are pertinent for caregivers caring for loved ones of all ages, but each day features a different caregiver focus.

Although virtual, caregivers will be able to connect with and learn from other caregivers each day through the virtual lunchtime “Chat and Chew”. Caregivers are invited to register for this free conference — anyone registered by Aug. 6 will receive pre-conference materials and a chance to win a door prize.

The Caregiver Conference is one example of the ongoing partnership between Easterseals and DSAAPD to address the growing needs of Delaware caregivers.

In addition, the Easterseals Community Outreach Program offers resources and support to caregivers through its many programs including, The Caregiver Resource Center, Lifespan Respite grants, FYI Assistive Technology Financing program and the assistive technology demonstration center.
