CAMBRIDGE -- Dr. Mark Bowen, diversity/equity and inclusion officer for Coastal Hospice, recently spoke to members of the Rotary Club of Cambridge.
Dr. Bowen earned a bachelor’s degree in social science education from University of Maryland, master’s degree in education from Salisbury University and a doctorate for religious education from Covington Theological Seminary.
He spent several years in education as a teacher, administrator and Supervisor of Instruction. After 20 years in education, Dr. Bowen became a deputy with the Worcester County Sheriffs Department. Much of his professional experience in law enforcement was in juvenile services.
Dr. Bowen told the Rotarians that Coastal Hospice offers compassion, comfort and care to their patients and families. Dignity and support are key terms used by the staff and volunteers. Their services include from help with daily activities to medical services when necessary.
Coastal Hospice offers four levels of care. Routine home hospice care, general inpatient care, crisis care and respite care. Medical professionals help the patient and family determine what services are best suited for all. All services are designed to make life a little easier.
