Dr. David Lee Magness

Dr. David Lee 'D' Magness, 60

DOVER - Dr. David Lee "D." Magness, age 60, passed away Nov. 21, 2008, at Kent General Hospital, Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn S. Magness; their son, David L Magness II; daughter-in-law, Sara R. Magness; and two granddaughters, Samantha and Athena Magness. Dr. Magness was a gifted musician playing in several Delmarva organizations, including the Milford Community Band and the Salisbury Orchestra. His musical experience varied from composing music to playing the string bass, tuba and keyboard. He served as a music instructor at Delaware State University and co-founded the Polytech High School band. As a Navy SeaBee, Petty Officer 1st Class (Ret.) Magness served with distinction. He was also an active motorcyclist and member of Wheels of Glory. Services were Wednesday at Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Ave., Milford. He was laid to rest at the Delaware Veteran Cemetery, Millsboro. The family requests donations be made in lieu of flowers to the Milford Community Band, 616 Cedarwood Ave., Milford, DE 19963.
