PHILADELPHIA — A pair of former Henlopen Conference standouts helped the Delaware baseball team capture the Liberty Bell Classic title on Wednesday evening.

The Blue Hens took the championship in the regional college tournament with an 18-2 win over Rider at Citizens Bank Park.

Dover High grad Dom Velazquez, who missed all last season with an arm injury, pitched two innings, allowed no runs, no hits and struck out three batters to improve to 2-0.

At the plate, Milford’s Bryce Greenly went 2-for-3 with a home run and double as Delaware (17-14) won the Liberty Bell for the eighth time and for the first time since 2013.

The Hens led 3-0 before erupting for 11 runs in the fourth. Delaware had four homers among its 14 hits.

Including a 22-2 win over Lafayette in the semifinals on Tuesday, the Hens scored 40 runs on 32 hits in their last two games.

Also leading Delaware on Wednesday were Eric Ludman (2-for-2, HR, 3 RBI,), Chris Dengler (2-for-3, RBI) and Aidan Kane (2-for-5, RBI).
