Dover’s bicycle-friendly status renewed

Posted

DOVER — The League of American Bicyclists has renewed the bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Community award for the capital city.

The award recognizes Dover for its commitment to create transportation and recreational resources that benefit its residents of all ages and abilities, while encouraging healthier and more sustainable transportation choices.

The city received the bronze level in 2017 and an honorable mention in 2013, the first year it applied for a Bicycle Friendly Community designation.

The program sets the standard for how communities build progress toward making biking better.

The bronze award recognizes Dover’s commitment to improving conditions for all people who bike, through investments in bike-education programs, regular bike events that encourage people to choose biking, pro-bike policies and bike infrastructure.

More than 850 communities have applied for recognition by the BFC initiative.
