Dover shots-fired complaint leads to arrest

Posted

DOVER — A 25-year-old Philadelphia man was arrested following a shots-fired report Sunday.

Dover police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said officers were called to 7-Eleven, 654 N. Dupont Highway, for a shots-fired complaint at 12:40 a.m. Police determined that Quadir Petty Smith was pointing a firearm at people at the scene, Cpl. Schmid said.

It is unknown if Mr. Petty Smith fired shots or if there were other weapons present, police said. The suspect left the store prior to officers arriving, Cpl. Schmid said, and he was located in the Planet Fitness parking lot and taken into custody without further incident.

Mr. Petty Smith was charged with aggravated menacing. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on $2,500 secured bail.
