Dover Police spokesperson Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said investigation began at 11:38 p.m. with a call for a robbery that just occurred at Bally’s where a purse was stolen at knife point.

While responding to the scene, police said, a witness contacted police and reported that they saw the incident and watched the suspect flee. The witness then provided the location of the suspect, police said.

Officers responded to this area and located Recardo Weatherspoon hiding in the bushes. He was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Mr. Weatherspoon was charged with first-degree robbery, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $42,000 cash bail.
