DOVER — Two brothers from Dover earlier this week were each indicted on two first-degree attempted murder charges in connection with an alleged shooting incident on Sept. 4.

Johnson Joseph, 19, and Alex Joseph, 22, both of the unit block of Freedom Drive, were arrested after Dover Police Department initially investigated a report of shots fired in The Hamlet community, authorities said at the time.

Eventually, police said, officers found that a 20-year-old person had been shot in the chest in one alleged incident at Whatcoat Apartments, and suffered a graze wound to the leg in another at The Hamlet.

Police said a gun believed to be used during the alleged shooting was located.

Other charges brought by a grand jury on Monday in Kent County Superior Court included possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony (two counts), and first-degree conspiracy.

Police said the Josephs were arrested without incident at their Freedom Drive residence, with an assist by Smyrna police.
