DOVER — Dover High has earned the No. 2 seed in the DIAA boys’ basketball state tournament bracket that was determined this morning.

The Senators (18-2) and No. 7 Seaford both earned first-round byes when the tourney begins on Tuesday.

In the girls’ bracket, upstate teams took the top eight seeds — and the first-round byes — led by top-seeded Caravel.

The boys’ tournament starts on Tuesday with games beginning at 7 p.m. on the court of the higher-seeded team.

In matchups involving Henlopen Conference schools, No. 22 Woodbridge plays at No. 11 Appoquinimink, No. 21 Cape Henlopen goes to No. 12 Sussex Central, No. 20 Smyrna plays at No. 13 Delaware Military and No. 18 Laurel goes to No. 15 Lake Forest.

Other first-round contests, No. 24 McKean goes to No. 9 Howard, No. 23 Glasgow plays at No. 10 St. Georges, No. 19 Conrad is at No. 14 MOT Charter and No. 17 Mount Pleasant plays at No. 16 Odessa.

The top seeds in the boys’ bracket are No. 1 St. Elizabeth (19-1), No. 2 Dover (18-2), No. 3 Middletown (15-5), No. 4 Salesianum (12-8), No. 5 Sanford (16-4), No. 6 Saint Mark’s (16-4), No. 7 Seaford (18-2) and No. 8 William Penn (16-4).

The girls’ bracket gets underway on Wednesday with games at 7 p.m. In contests involving Henlopen Conference squads, No. 17 Lake Forest (13-7) goes to No. 16 Odessa (15-5), No. 24 Smyrna (13-7) plays at No. 9 Archmere (12-8), No. 21 Wilmington Friends (12-8) plays at No. 12 Seaford (14-6), No. 18 Cape Henlopen (14-6) goes to No. 15 Saint Mark’s (12-8), No. 23 Wilmington Charter (11-9) plays at No. 10 Dover (16-4) and No. 22 Early College (14-5) goes to No. 11 Woodbridge (16-4).

After a recent post-game altercation between Saint Mark’s and Salesianum, teams will shake hands before state tournament games.
