Dover apartment building damaged by gunfire

DOVER — An apartment building was damaged by gunfire during an argument late Saturday, Dover Police said.

Spokesperson Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said investigation began at 10:37 p.m., when officers responded to the 900 block of Whatcoat Drive for a shots fired report at at Whatcoat Apartments building.

Police determined that there was an argument between several individuals inside the building and, a Black male wearing all black fired a handgun, which damaged the building, Cpl. Schmid said. The male then fled, authorities said.

No injuries were reported as a result of this shooting, police said.

Anyone with information was asked to call police at 302-736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous. Tips may also be submitted to law enforcement through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or online at delaware.crimestoppersweb.com; a cash reward is possible for information leading to an arrest.
