Douglas Earl Estes, 52
SMYRNA - Douglas Earl Estes, of Smyrna, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, in the Delaware Home & Hospital for the Chronically Ill. He was 52.
Born in Limestone, Maine, he was the son of the late Earl Douglas Estes and Minette Coburn Estes, currently of Dover.
As a youth, Mr. Estes lived in several places while his father served in the armed forces.
He graduated from Anchorage High School in Alaska and later served in the U.S. Army.
Upon being discharged from active duty, he served with the U.S. Civil Service at the Tobyhanna Army Depot in Scranton, Pa., until being disabled in 1991.
Mr. Estes enjoyed travel and the outdoors and was especially fond of hiking.
He was also a longtime fan of Major League Baseball and enjoyed NASCAR races.
In addition to his mother, he leaves his brother, Christopher Estes of Dover; and a niece, Erin Kelle Wright of Dover.
Services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by Michael J. Ambruso Funeral Director, Dover.
