DOVER - Dorothy L. Halverson passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021 at home.
Mrs. Halverson was born January 16, 1927 in Fulton, Mississippi to the late Leonard A. Lollar and Hessie L. Sheffield Lollar.
She served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After the service she worked in the clothing industry for General Clothing in Smyrna, Lomars of Dover and Leads Travelwear in Clayton, before running an in home daycare for 26 years. She enjoyed hats and fancy clothes. Mrs. Halverson was a member of the Christian Worship Center.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, Laverne M. Halverson, 5/24/1980, their son, Michael Halverson, 03/11/1999.
She is survived by daughter, Dorothy Gibbs of California; son, John "Doug" Halverson (Linda) of Dover; daughter-in-law, Ann Halverson; brother, Hubert C. Lollar; eight, grandchildren, Jeff Gibb (Terri), Kristy Handley (Joe), Joshua Halverson, Heather Dawson, Ashley Halverson, Jason Goodnight (Jennifer), Drew Grinde (Bonnie) and Jason Clarke (Diana); nineteen great grandchildren.
Special thanks to Emily and Al for providing care to mom during her final journey on this earth.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, (Rt. 10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro. Because of her love of hats, women are encouraged to wear their hats.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Christian Worship Center, 107 South St., Camden, DE 19934.
